Morton’s Square Residential Lobby

Morton Square is a luxury apartment community located in Greenwich Village. From the outside, the entrance to the lobby features a glowing, metallic awning. Six recessed fixtures in-ground on either side of the door illuminate the awning. Inside the main doors, green LED’s are mounted to the front desk in glass strips.

This lobby’s main arresting features are the colorful glass installations by artist Tom Patti. A suspended orange glass sculpture hangs above a circular seating area next to the front desk. The glass is brightly illuminated by over 30 MR16′s mounted in circles above. The curved glass is in staunch contrast to the strong linear patterns of the lobby’s woodwork.

In the elevator hallway, decorative green glass plates are suspended from the ceiling and lit by pin spots from above. In an adjoining alcove, five colorful glass panels hang from wires and are lit by adjustable MR16s in the ceiling. The light cascades through the glass, casting brilliant shadows on the floor and wall and giving the impression that you are walking down a sunlit path.

Clean lighting blends with the rich textures and crisp architectural lines of the space to create a seamless transition between the interior and the exterior.
